LuxCreo, a Chinese high-speed light-curing 3D printer manufacturer, is crowdfunding a cooperative 3D printed 

shoe Bisca360 through Kickstarter. This is the first breathable and fully waterproof sneaker with a 3D printed midsole. 

LuxCreo's high-speed photopolymerization technology LEAP is used for mass production of midsoles.

         The  technology  and  materials developed by LuxCreo (Qingfeng Times in Chinese) are very similar to the CLIP 

technology and materials launched by Carbon. Many companies, including EnvisionTEC (the first company to patent 

a continuous DLP process),  are now using  high-speed,  layer-free  photopoly merization  methods.  Not  only has a 

variety of uses in the automotive and dental fields, but also has the ability to produce millions of parts. Polyurethane-

based materials have very good properties, so they are especially suitable for footwear.

Carbon has  established a partnership  with  Adidas and is now mass-producing midsoles for the Futurecraft 4D series 

of shoes, effectively occupying this market segment. LuxCreo is a possible alternative. The Chinese company’s direct 

involvement in the footwear sector may attract the interest of Asian footwear manufacturers, which account for nearly 

90% of all footwear production today. LuxCreo's established mission is to "help China close the 3D printing gap."

Although the midsole is 3D printed, the upper is made of advanced nanofabric with tiny porous holes, which are 

breathable but not leaking.
Comparing the shoe to a room, the LEAP  technology used  in the  Bisca360 shoe midsole pushes all the  windows 

of the sole open, allowing all gases "inside and outside the house" to enter and exit freely through these windows, 

allowing your feet to breathe freely from all directions.

On the crowdfunding page, a pair starts at $99, which is 50% lower than the real market price. This means that shoes 

with a 3D printed midsole are now very price-competitive, and Adidas' Futurecraft 4D sneakers start at around $200.

Mass production

        Using LuxCreo's technology can realize the large-scale application of 3D printing, creatively combining the new 

manufacturing model and ecology of customization and mass production. The current price plan is suitable for low 

productivity levels. Since economies of scale involve material costs and hardware depreciation, expanding production 

scale may further reduce prices. Currently, Qingfeng Times has four offices in Beijing Ningbo Taipei and Silicon Valley. 

It has gathered high-end technical and management talents from world-class universities such as Tsinghua University, 

Cambridge  University,  Harvard  University,  University  of  Pennsylvania,  Wharton  School  of  Business, and Imperial 

College.

used for large-scale production, thereby achieving large-scale personalized customization.
    This model can completely subvert the traditional manufacturing method of production. At the manufacturing end,
